The kohl rimming the eye as depicted in ancient Egyptian art probably served a dual purpose: 1 was the obvious decorative function, but 2 was for the kohl’s use for the deflection of sunlight, like how football players use it.

Today I (re-)learned how debilitating they are.
One is the font I used for some of the things on this Tumblr; one is fossilized excrement.
As someone who has a fascination with languages, I thought I knew quite a bit about the “romance languages.” I thought it was common knowledge that there were four: french, spanish, italian and romanian (ok I thought it was hungarian, but I have no idea when or why I learned this/starting thinking this.)

- I’m a little bummed that I can’t stay in school forever and therefore have to pick only a few of these to study! Also, I can’t wait to refer back to this when people roll their eyes when I tell them I’ve studied french, spanish, and italian, like all romance languages are the same.
- Meanwhile, due to some new business ventures of my father’s I also wanted to check and see where Polish falls on the linguistic spectrum. The answer is: nowhere near the romances! Guess its time to learn another alphabet.
